Season Of Time
Sunny Day, March 15, 2007
Well it is once again the opening of another fall season as the colorful leaves grace the ground all around us, and the setting sun burns the Pumpkins a bright orange. We all like to take this time of year to reflect on the approaching season to come and the things we all find important but fail to notice in other times of deep expression.
The Effect of Time,
Simply said, the older you get the less you seem to have and enjoy “Where’s the time gone” you only say that phrase when your at least fifty, Children never say this I am sure. This perhaps because when you are younger your so busy doing this and that you forget to look outside to see its dark and the days are over already.
Now that I am reaching half of a hundred, it seems I want to stare at the bathroom mirror less. This I believe, a cruel joke parents never tell you while raising you; it is so scary not looking the same anymore, and having to hear parts of your body making sounds you know you have never heard before, nor want to find out why or where.
Your health is another herald topic taken for granted until “The Effect of Time” kicks in then, all sorts of maladies happen. As we age, we move slower, less often, and this they tell me, is counterproductive in this state of age, when time is only something to look at on the wall, it appears there is plenty time left.
Time on my mind, Time on my hands, sounds like a song which I think is, but that is the other thing time has affected, my ability to remember anything really important, other than my balding head and perhaps eating then burping and followed by gas which has a secondary mechanism that reminds us, I can only ponder.
There are things time has no such affect or value on, the time it takes to help or lend an ear to a fellow human being, it takes less time than you think. Another instance, Reading a good book, it is not the time it takes but the journey reading it to the end, even if that means you never finish.
Teaching the young people of the world something meaningful, something’s are taught without much direction or meaning these days and the fruit of the labor never is seen by the teacher, although it sometimes can take a lifetime.
Last, the time it takes to Love your family and tell them so, supporting your friends and colleagues. Respecting all living creatures great and small, and acknowledge your surroundings making a better place to live for all, who bless this wonderful earth in your life.
What Time is it Now?

Have you ever heard the old saying, “The blind leading the blind?” Bet you have. However, did you ever wonder if it were true? Well knowing just the right people or person, has provided me the ability to answer such folklore.
A Chilly Day
October 7, 2006
A good friend of the family asked if I could be a nice relative and take him to the store for some groceries and what knot’s and what have you’s. A little background by the way on our family friend, we will call him Randy for these general purposes. Another fact, he is legally blind.
Now the true definition of legally blind means so many different things to so many people and why, well you can ask yourself as I have many times in the past only to find out there is no true answer in society today.
Overwhelming to be quite honest though folks, perhaps you might agree, a true definition would be simply he just cannot see, no other way to explain it, neither need to go any further trying.
Anyhow, back to the real story at hand, the relative was at a meeting of the minds, at the semi-famous Society of the Blind. A sort of a mass conglomeration of blind people all over the world one would guess given the name and all. I was to greet him at the door, but upon arriving I was greeted by a young-lady very politely and was asked inside if I didn’t mind I told her I was here to pick up Randy and she escorted me to the location he might be, matter of fact by the way.
At this point, I was the one, led by a blind person, already a dilemma in the works.
Anyhow, I was greeted at that point by what blind people refer to as a Mobility Specialist, which by the way if your with me so far the crust of the story. This person mind you teaches a blind person like our friend Randy, Simply put mobility, walking, riding, (Ok maybe not riding) and yes, leading or being led. Also basic mobility functions the things normal people as you and I take for granted. I was stunned I pondered, is this possible. Not the fact teaching the blind mobility and all, the thought about the person teaching the subject sighted, and yes folks he could see perfectly like you and I.
This great instance here taught me a valuable truth to another bit of folklore that just does not apply right today. Certainly, the blind do not lead the blind, the sighted lead the blind. What a funny coincidence though, if they were never blind how they possible can teach something they cannot know. Another thought came to me when asking this teacher of mobility that same question; I reckon he did not know the answer though, due to his reluctance to answer, also at this point he told me, I must wait outside, as he kindly was escorting me.
I wondered again and asked, if it was hard to teach the blind to walk out a door if they never ever seen a door, his reply was a simple; we would open the door for them he guessed, then told me goodbye as the door shut.
Oh, by the way, we did finally do his grocery shopping, and all went well and we all gained another shortsighted impression of sort.
In addition, in case you have not noticed this was just another day in my life.
Hap
